Description
Sourced from southern states of the USA, our Cut-To-Size Southern Yellow Pine Timber is yellowish-brown in colour with well-marked, reddish-brown growth rings. Suitable for a range of different practical projects, this is a distinctive and attractive softwood material to use in any home or office.
Although Southern Yellow Pine is a relatively soft, low-strength timber, it’s real attributes lie in its visual appeal. The wood itself consists of a medium to coarse texture and a beautiful straight grain that makes it suitable for a wide range of gorgeous furniture, flooring and joinery projects.
This wood is moderately easy to work, but the resin can be troublesome, tending to clog saw teeth and stick to machine tables.
Takes glues, nails and screws well and can be finished to a high standard. The high contrast produced by the colour of the growth rings makes this wood a particularly beautiful choice for a wide range of practical and creative applications.
